Yesterday Morning we had to get up early and being 'very organised' we got up even hours before that - I blame it on the jet lag though. We met at the check-in point of Kai Kanani Sailing and were driven to the beach, we saw the sun rising and nature come to live - it was amazing. Our boat won't board the usual way so we waded through the shallow and warm water on board of the 66 feet catamaran, greeted by a super friendly crew we had a fabulous start. The waters were pretty calm and it took as not long to arrive at the crater and off we went, snorkelling in a protected area - the fish seem to know that they are protected, they came so close it was unbelievable.
It was an amazing experience and it will not be our last trip into the Pacific here at Maui. I will need to play a lot more with my new gadget the Hero4 camera as the pics aren't that great, so will need to practice but hey we only just arrived ;)
For lunch I had booked us a table at the Millhouse, great place, awesome food!!! We shared the Kalbi Beef as a starter and I went for more beef as main with the Ascada Tacos - yummy, where Maria went for the Mahi Mahi - yeah we shared as well. I haven't taken food pictures but ... some of the surroundings ...
After lunch, we headed off to IAO Valley, well that was the plan but unfortunately the Iao Valley State Park is closed after some serious damage in September and at the moment there is no re-opening day in sight. We will need to find an alternative hiking area which is likely to be around the Haleakala area or even South of Hana. Instead of walking off the lunch calories we drove South to Lahaina, Maui's capital and shopping paradise ... we only were browsing and ... had our first rain since arrival, it was more a spray than rain. The nature around Lahaina is totally different (yes I know that this was to be expected ;)) and so beautiful!
